Channel in Cempaka Putih Timur Repaired

Some 12 Central Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency personnel are seen repairing the damaged water channel on Jalan Cempaka Putih Tengah 26E, Cempaka Putih Timur, Cempaka Putih.

The channel long being repaired reaches 170 meters

Cempaka Putih Sub-district SDA Executing Unit Head, Subandi said the repair was done, as many of the sheet piles collapsed and blocked the water flow.

“The channel long being repaired reaches 170 meters. The work progress now has touched 48 percent or 80 meters long," he said, Friday (10/.6).

Prior to the repair, the channel had a width of 30 to 60 centimeters. But now, it was 60 centimeters. "We use river stone material," he expressed.

He explained it has been ongoing since early September and involved 12 personnel. The repair process begins by breaking the channel.

"Then we make the sheet pile using a river stone structure glued together with a mixture of cement and sand," he explained.

He hoped that it was expected to be able to maximize the volume of water and restore its function.

"Hopefully, it can minimize flooding in the surrounding area," he stated.
